I know what you are going to say "What an odd post to start your blogging career with"...well it just needs to be discussed as I have had two recent experiences of it. My first recent encounter with this phenomenon was just the other week, my in-laws have a young beagle called Lola who was due to attend a 'fancy dress dog party'!! They decided to dress her up as a pink fairy...
The second recent encounter was just the other evening. I was gazing out from our kitchen pondering about world affairs & the state of the economy, when I noticed a dark apparition slowly making its way along our fence post, staring back at me with what could be described as a grimace of embarrassment. The cat had been dressed with a striped jumper! My first reaction was that of pure amusement (as all who know me understand my dislike for this particular feline variety) but I began to empathise with its plight...what would all the neighbourhood cats say? Would they shun & ostracise it and banish him/her to a life of solitude dressed as a striped clown?...my moment of empathy passed and I decided to capture on digital film this ridiculous apparition.
My final thought...more of a set of questions; Is it right to dress up furry pets? Why do 'we' feel the need to clothe animals who are already fully equipped to withstand the elements and impose social leprosy on your 'best friend'?
What would you dress your pet as?
